Secretary of the Board of Trustees and Executive Assistant to the President
Dr. Alison Barber serves Michigan State University as Secretary of the Board of Trustees and Executive Assistant to the President. Her duties include administrative responsibilities for Board meetings, University ordinances, policies and courtesies as well as working with the Board and the President to implement their agenda for change.
She assumed the post August 1, 2005, after serving as senior associate dean of The Eli Broad College of Business at MSU since 2001. Barber joined the Broad College in 1990, and also has served as its chief academic officer, and has been responsible for administering the college's budget, and for personnel administration.
She received her doctorate in industrial relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also received her master's. She received her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Virginia.
